Eastgate Square has been named Business of the Year 2026 at the Cheshire & North Wales Downtown in Business Awards, following a public vote recognising the centre’s ongoing transformation and investment in the centre!
The award was presented by broadcaster Lucy Meacock at a ceremony held at Chester Racecourse on Friday 5 June, with Eastgate Square shortlisted alongside Chester Zoo, Crime Prevention Services and Clogau.
Since November 2025, Eastgate Square has embarked on an ambitious programme of investment designed to enhance the visitor experience, attract new brands and create a more vibrant destination in the heart of Chester. This has included a significant refurbishment programme, the arrival of H beauty, new public spaces and seating areas, an expanded events calendar and a renewed focus on placemaking and community engagement.
The public vote reflects growing recognition of the changes taking place across the centre, as Eastgate Square continues to evolve into a destination that offers more than just shopping.

With further investment, new openings, seasonal installations and an expanded programme of events planned throughout 2026, Eastgate Square is looking forward to building on this momentum and continuing to enhance the experience for visitors, retailers and the wider Chester community.
